About me

Hi, I’m Beatriz—an editor, communicator and lifelong crafter.

I was born and raised in Portugal, where I cultivated a love for languages and reading. From early on, I devoured books—first in Portuguese, and later in English, as I began learning the language and discovered that books were more affordable in their original language.

That was the spark that fundamentally changed my life, leading me to become fluent and, at 17, earn a certificate of proficiency in English and move to Northern Ireland to study. There, I completed a BSc (Hons) in Biology and started working in preclinical research—but I soon realised my true passion was communication.

Over the years, I’ve worked with a wide range of organisations, from science and biomedicine consulting firms, to tech, education and entrepreneurship foundations—as a writer, digital content creator and, finally, editor.

I now have several years of proofreading and copyediting experience under my belt, having worked on a wide range of materials, from B2B documents to website copy, newsletters, online articles and social media content. I love getting to help businesses and individuals polish their work so their message is clear, consistent and engaging.

Alongside my passion for communication, I’ve always had a deep love for crafting. I learned to cross stitch and knit from my mother and grandmother, and have long enjoyed sketching, painting and the occasional collage. I picked up crochet while living in London, and it quickly became my main creative outlet.

Today, I’m also a certified crochet technical editor, helping designers refine their patterns so makers can follow them with ease and confidence.
